VTAPE Saturator konzentriert sich auf die Simulation des Aufnahme/Wiedergabeverhaltens einer analogen Bandmaschine.

VTAPE Delay benutzt diese Simulation als Kernmodul für ein modernes, Stepsequenzer basierendes Multi-Tap Delay und führt damit den warmen Klang der alten Bandechos in das 21. Jahrhundert.

VTAPE Flanger simuliert den legendären "Tape flanging" Effekt der durch die Wiedergabe desselben Musikmaterials auf zwei Bandmaschinen mit leicht unterschiedlicher Geschwindigkeit ensteht.

Warum und Wie ?

Why bothering about going back to analogue tape recording knowing that todays digital audio recording is undoubtly more precise in reproducing the original sound ?

Perhaps you already guessed the answer: it´s the imperfection and the technical deficiencies which can add something wonderful to the sound if properly used.

Most emulations of the `tape sound´ focus on the saturation characteristic alone and underestimate the effect of a subtle amount of `flutter´ - high frequency fluctuations of the tape speed. This adds something which is probably the most important part of the special sound: The harmonic lines are "widened" by the effect of frequency modulation due to flutter which causes a 'thickening' of the audio signal contributing to the fat sound of analog, compared to the more accurate, but thin sound of digital. This effect called `Modulation noise´ makes it easier to mix tracks together by removing the static character especially of electric/electronic sounds. It´s interesting to know that many natural instruments have a "built-in" flutter effect which strongly contributes to their sound.

The distortion and compression effects due to the saturation characteristic of magnetic recording depend on the input signal level. With normal recording levels the distortion is around 1% which is away from sounding really distorted but quite audible and adds a pleasant color to the sound. Higher values should only be used as special effect on some suitable tracks dependant on the style of music you´re after.
The saturation is also responsible for the `instant compression´ effect which causes transient signals to be reduced in level. In contrast to a dedicated compressor this one is working with instant attack/release and therefore avoiding the typical pumping artefacts.

D16 Group Nepheton v1.1.2

Synthesis

Nepheton contains 17 fully synthesized instruments perfectly emulating the famous 808 drum machine. All the nuances and details of the instruments sounds are captured perfectly. The instruments models are equipped with additional controls giving you possibility to tweak the sound much better. Listen to the audio examples or just download the demo and try it out.

Outputs

Nepheton has a flexible output configuration. Every instrument's audio signal can be routed to any of the 17 outputs. This allows users to further shape sounds individually or in groups via their favourite plug-ins.
Each individual output can be set to mono or stereo. For the greatest 808 fans we've added also original Trigger output (configurable as well).
Every instrument also has a Mute, Solo button and Activity led. Mute will not just silence the sound, it will stop the sound being triggered. Solo will stop all other instruments from being triggered and only allow the selected sound(s) to play.

Control

Nepheton has extensive midi control. Midi notes can be used to trigger each individual sound. Alternatively, the internal sequencer can be used. This can be set to play using Nepheton's internal clock or set to synchronize perfectly to the host sequencer.

Most of Nepheton's parameters can be automated within the host and also controlled using MidiCC with an external controller. An easy-to-use Midi Learn function allows reassignment of any of the parameters.

Internal Sequencer

Internal sequencer's memory contains two banks of patterns: simple and extended. There is 16 extended and 96 simple patterns which both can be edited traditionally using the step buttons or using the tap function.

Simple patterns are used in Host Mode where each pattern location has a midi note number assigned to it. With these notes you can control freely the order of played patterns.

Extended pattern differs from the simple one in it has 4 segments (variation A/B and part 1/2). The whole bank of 16 extended patterns is divided into two groups of Basic Patterns and Intro/Fill In Patterns. You can choose freely from played patterns, used variations, and fill in modes (triggered automatically or manually). It also can be defined whether the starting pattern should be preceded by introduction pattern and many many more. Extended patterns are used when Host Mode is off.

A Randomizer function is also provided within the internal sequencer. It can be used to make simple changes to a pattern or create a whole new one - ideal when your creativity needs a boost! Randomizing can be applied to specific instruments and the frequency of occurrence can also be adjusted easily to give you just the right amount.

All external files are stored in the XML format. This allows single patterns or whole banks to be exchanged between users easily. XML allows the files to be edited in a text editor. Ideal if you want to post or share a pattern on a web site - just post the text!

LinPlug Albino v3.0.2

In 2002 Rob Papen approached Peter Linsener of LinPlug with the idea of a sound-designers dream synth.
A few months later ALBINO was born! This very unique synth stole the hearts of many musicians due to it's high quality sound, usability and inspirational presets.

Albino3 has loads of amazing new creative features added like the two new filters "Scream" and "Comb"; four FX units with new FX like LoFi and WahWah; a Compressor and an improved Reverb.
But the biggest new feature is that you can layer up to four instances of Albino in one single preset!

Albino 3 has more than 2200 'Rob Papen' presets in various styles of music plus two banks by the very talented REYN (Famous Dutch producer), Noisia (Dutch DnB) and NarvanaX (Dutch Hardcore).

The Layers:

Each preset can now be made up of 4 individual layers. So actually a sound can make use of up to 80 oscillators for a single note ( 4 Layers, 4 Oscillators each, 5 times Spread). A typical todays DAW, either Mac or PC can usually handle about 120 Albino 3 Digital Oscillators or 75 Albino 3 “Analoge” Oscillators. But to explore the musical possibilities that the Albino 3 Layers offer to you we recommend to check out the presets that come with Albino 3. Powerful Arpeggiator:

Each layer can have an up to 32 step rhythm arpeggiator with several modes: up, down, up/down, down/up, as played, random mode and a chord and modulation mode.
It can be retriggered, it can swing with your music and you can mix its step velocity values with the velocity you played the chord. Your own creations can be save or copy/pasted to other presets. Many of the new presets make use of the Arpeggiator and the possibilities are literary endless.
